๐ŸŽฏ Workshop โ€“ Testing a Board Game for Career Guidance & Youth Empowerment ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“ | Nicosia, 26 September 2026

On 26 September 2026, Bee the Future CY organised an interactive workshop in Nicosia dedicated to testing and improving an innovative board game for career guidance and youth empowerment. The activity brought together our youth leaders and youth workers to explore how a creative, game-based approach can support young people in discovering their strengths, reflecting on their interests, developing new skills and making more informed decisions about their educational and professional futures.

The workshop provided an opportunity to test the board game in a practical learning environment, allowing participants to experience the game as future facilitators and evaluate its potential for use in youth work, non-formal education and career guidance activities. Instead of simply reading the instructions, our youth leaders and youth workers actively played the game, followed the rules, answered questions, discussed different situations and explored the challenges that young people might encounter while taking part in the activity.

Throughout the testing process, particular attention was given to the clarity of the rules, the relevance of the questions, the quality of the answers and the overall flow of the game. Participants examined whether the instructions were easy to understand, whether the questions encouraged meaningful reflection and whether the different stages of the game created opportunities for discussion, cooperation and learning. They also shared their opinions on the difficulty of the tasks, the usefulness of the proposed scenarios and the ways in which the game could encourage young people to express themselves more confidently.

An important part of the workshop was collecting feedback from the participants. Our youth workers and youth leaders shared their observations, identified elements that worked well and highlighted areas that could be improved. Their different experiences in working with young people helped us look at the game from several perspectives. We discussed whether the questions were accessible to participants with different educational backgrounds, whether the activities could engage young people with fewer opportunities and how facilitators could adapt the game to different group dynamics and learning needs.

The testing session also encouraged participants to think about the role of youth workers in supporting career development. Career guidance is not only about choosing a profession; it is also about understanding personal interests, recognising existing competences, exploring new possibilities, learning from mistakes and building confidence when making decisions. Through the board game, we explored how these topics can be introduced in an informal, interactive and enjoyable way, creating a safe environment where young people can exchange ideas and learn from one another.

The discussions helped us identify practical improvements that can make the game more user-friendly, engaging and effective. Feedback on the wording of the questions, the interpretation of possible answers, the consistency of the rules and the timing of the different activities will contribute to the further development of the game. This testing phase is essential because an educational tool should not only look attractive or provide interesting questions; it must also work effectively in real-life youth work settings and offer clear learning value to both participants and facilitators.

At Bee the Future CY, we believe that young people learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. Board games and other non-formal education methods can transform complex topics into accessible experiences, encourage participation and create opportunities for reflection without the pressure of a traditional classroom environment. By combining play, discussion and practical decision-making, this career guidance game aims to help young people explore their potential and approach their future with greater awareness and confidence.

The workshop in Nicosia was therefore more than a simple game-testing session. It was a collaborative process in which youth workers and youth leaders contributed their knowledge, experiences and ideas to improve an educational resource designed to support youth empowerment. Their feedback will help us refine the game, strengthen its practical application and prepare it for future activities with young people.

A big thank you to all our youth leaders and youth workers who participated, tested the rules, answered the questions, shared honest opinions and contributed to the development of this learning tool! Your active involvement helps us create more inclusive, practical and engaging methods for career guidance and youth development.

Together, we are turning learning into an experience where every question opens a possibility, every discussion creates new perspectives and every young person gets the opportunity to explore their future. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŽฒ
